1. First you need to boot the system from the CD of SBS 2003. If you have to load a Storage Driver, press "F6" as you see the prompt. The setup also loads a small runtime into memory and gathers information from you so as to follow your commands.
2. For a new installation, you need to press and continue with the process. Remember to accept the Terms and Conditions of the license to use the software. Press "F8" to accept and continue.
3. Now we need to create a partition for Windows. Press "C" or the system drive where you want to install the setup.
4. Then choose the partition for the installation. We can set up the rest of the drive partitions later.
5. SBS requires NTFS file system and since this is a new drive, go for the full format. Although, it takes a little extra time than the Quick Option, but is safer.
6. Allow the setup to copy files to a temporary directory. It takes some time. After this, the setup will start a limited version of Windows and gather the information from you to setup the server.
7. Now you can see Windows Server 2003 splash screen. Setup keeps you updated about the progress while doing installation.
8. Enter your name in SBS 2003 to set up your own server’s name.
9. Then you need to enter the license key provided with the CD. Enter the keys and press .
10. Be careful while naming your computer as you need to type it repeatedly. So, keep it short and easy to remember.
11. Setup will then start Windows Server 2003 and you will see an icon on the Desktop to allow you to continue with the SBS 2003 setup.
12. Just follow the simple prompts shown on the computer screen and your work is done. Now you are ready to use Small Business Server 2003.
